Bouraq Airlines has been established in 1999 to provide air services between Europe and Morocco. Currently, they have a fleet of two aircraft, both Bombardier Q400 turboprop planes, that can carry 60 passengers each. Their first plane was delivered in June 2000, and their second one was delivered in July 2002. Their fleet is currently being expanded. They provide flights from London Heathrow to Casablanca twice a week, and three times a week from Manchester to Casablanca. All their planes are equipped with Wi-Fi internet access and a business lounge for frequent flyers. They also provide airport transfers.
They offer a range of paid holidays throughout the year including summer, winter, Easter, and Christmas. During these holidays they allow visitors who wish to travel to do so at no extra cost. In addition, they offer free flights to people who wish to attend weddings in Morocco. They also offer special offers for families and friends visiting together, and they offer discounts if groups book multiple tickets. They are owned by Moroccan businessman, Abdessalam Bouchareb. He started his own airline company after he noticed the lack of competition in the market and wanted to start offering low fares. They have plans to expand their operations into other countries such as the UK and Spain to increase the number of passengers. As well as this they have plans to acquire additional Bombardier Q400 planes to meet increasing demand and increase capacity. The airline was created after the civil war in Lebanon (1975-1990) and operated under various names before becoming a legal entity. The first flight was flown on 30th May 2012 between Beirut and Damascus. Bouraq Airlines currently flies Boeing 737 aircraft and Airbus A320s. This company is not related to Bouraq Air Inc., a Canadian charter company that previously flew out of Beirut International Airport. In 2014, Bouraq Airlines launched its second route from Damascus to Cairo via Dubai.
