8 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Emirates Airlines

At Emirates Airlines, we’re all about celebrating our heritage and sharing the best of what the Emirates has to offer with the world, whether that’s through our award-winning food and wine or our rich history of humanitarianism and support for communities around the globe. From our spot in the Guinness Book of World Records to some fun facts that you may not have known about us, we’ve rounded up 8 things you probably didn’t know about Emirates Airlines! Take a look at these fun facts below!

1) Emirates Has the World's Longest Flight

At a whopping 17 hours, 45 minutes, your jaw will drop when you book a flight from Dubai to Panama City on Emirates Airlines. While most international flights are under ten hours long, Qatar Airways can boast that its route from Doha to Auckland is nearly 12 hours in length. It's not quite as high-profile as Emirates, though. - We Thought This Was Interesting: Top 10 Longest Flights in The World.

2) They Have Their Own Museum (Yes, Really!)

If you find yourself at an information stand for Etihad Airways, don’t hesitate to ask about their sister airline, Emirates Airlines. The two airlines have a great deal of overlap when it comes to flights and destinations, but also some major differences. Perhaps most notably is that Etihad has its own museum at its home airport in Abu Dhabi (with a branch opening soon in Al Ain). Emirates would like to open one of its own, but hasn’t decided on a location yet.

3) They Have Suite Seats That Are Lounges

Flying first class may sound like a thing of legend, but Emirates Airlines offers a level of luxury above and beyond what any other airline can compete with. Their A380 suite seats are comparable to a room with all the amenities and comforts you would expect from a five-star hotel.

4) They Transformed an Old Plane Into a Luxury Hotel

What if you could turn an old airplane into a luxury hotel? Well, that’s exactly what Emirates Airlines did when they transported their first Boeing 777-200LR from Hamburg to Dubai and turned it into a posh hotel. Now travelers can spend time in one of three onboard cabins as they tour Asia, Africa, and Europe. Best of all, all three cabins are now part of The Qantas Founders Room Collection.

5) All Passengers Receive Lounge Access Before Departure

Before your flight, every passenger receives lounge access at no extra cost. There are three lounges in Dubai International Airport: The Business Class Lounge, First Class Lounge, and Senator Lounge. All three include a selection of food, refreshments, and facilities such as showers or pools that you can use before boarding your flight.

6) Business Class Amenities Include Unlimited Alcoholic Beverages!

When traveling in business class on a long-haul flight, don’t forget to take advantage of some of your extras. Not only will you get three-course meals and a luxury kit, but unlimited alcoholic beverages will also be included in the business class and the airline business class. If you’re hoping to get some work done while away, it might be a good idea to skip out on these—especially if they have a lounge area!

8 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Emirates Airlines
7) Flagship A380 Planes Have Private Residences on Board

Many of these private apartments can be found on Emirates' flagship A380 planes, and they’re both opulent and comfortable. The base model starts at more than $17,000 per flight and goes up from there, depending on how many people are traveling. And while you’ll have your own space—with luxury amenities like a king-size bed or an in-flight shower—you’ll have to share a main living area with other first-class fliers.

8) There is a Secret Entrance to Their First Class Section...

If you’re traveling on a long-haul flight, especially one to or from Europe, it can be tempting to stay in first-class for as long as possible. But even though you may have access to their luxury facilities for up to twelve hours, you don’t necessarily need to stay there for that long—and luckily, Emirates has a secret passage between first and business class that will allow you easy access from one cabin to another without being seen by other passengers.

QANTAS AIRLINES AND THE HISTORY OF FLIGHT DURING WORLD WAR II

The history of flight has always had its ups and downs. There have been many great achievements throughout aviation’s history but unfortunately, there have also been some tragedies. In World War II, several disasters took place involving aircraft and pilots, including several fatal crashes. This caused the government to take action and create the ‘Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which was then given jurisdiction over all commercial airline activities.
